v, the youth volunteering charity, has granted Vitalise the sum of £12,000 to support youth volunteering opportunities for young people aged 16 to 25 at Vitalise Jubilee Lodge. v’s contribution matches an earlier grant by the Jack Petchey Foundation (JPF).

Vitalise Jubilee Lodge is a fully accessible residential Centre which offers essential short breaks to disabled people and carers. It is the longest established of Vitalise’s five Centres, catering for up to 36 disabled guests each week, 48 weeks a year. Its position on the London-Essex border enables it to organise excursions to London, East Anglia, southern England and across the channel to France.

jackpetcheyfoundation.org.uk, Jack Petchey - backing younger people!!Like all Vitalise Centres, Jubilee Lodge uses the services of volunteers to befriend and support guests, both at the Centres and during the excursions that make a Vitalise break so involving.

Terry Ryall, v Chief Executive, says:
v is delighted to be able to provide financial support to Vitalise through our Match Fund programme in this project, which will inspire young people to volunteer in London and Essex.”

Vitalise Chief Executive Jonathan Powell says:
“This is excellent news for Vitalise and for Jubilee Lodge. Volunteers are vital to Vitalise Centres. Without their extra support, we could not offer guests the same high-quality activities, excursions and entertainment that make a Vitalise break so much more than respite. And for the young volunteers, it provides valuable experience of caring for others. Our grateful thanks to both v and JPF for making it happen.”
