The Lake District is an ever-popular destination for walkers, covering a vast area and a huge variety of terrain, interlaced by a near inexhaustible number of routes to explore, truly a walker’s paradise.
This walking holiday is focused around Buttermere in the north western Lake District, a quieter corner of the region offering the opportunity to avoid the crowds. From our base in the valley we can walk to Crummock Water and around Buttermere with Loweswater and the Vale of Lorton nearby.
Our base for this weekend is Buttermere Youth Hostel with a number of walking routes of differing levels starting from the door. At the end of the day you can relax in the lounge offering views of Red Pike and High Stile and enjoy an evening meal in the newly refurbished restaurant serving local ales and organic wines.
