Easy: No previous experience, specific skill or fitness level is required; however a minimum degree of mobility is necessary for participation in the planned itinerary.

Moderate: A good degree of fitness is required. The planned itinerary will involve some physical exertion or longer periods of time spent walking, standing or travelling.

Energetic: Excellent levels of fitness, stamina and mobility are required. The itinerary will involve some physical exertion, more challenging means of transport or a demanding schedule of excursions. There is the likelihood that the itinerary will require walking longer distances, up steps or on uneven ground.

Grading for activity holidays

Beginner: Suitable for those with no previous experience of the activity; however some physical exertion is involved and a reasonable degree of co-ordination and mobility is required. Periods of activity will be interspersed with regular breaks and may include alternative excursions or activities.

Improver: Suitable for those who have some previous experience of the activity and who wish to improve their skills. Activities will include more physical exertion than the beginner grade, and periods of activity will last for longer, however the pace will be relaxed with regular rest intervals.

Intermediate: Previous experience of the activity over consecutive days is required with a good level of fitness and stamina. A moderate level of skill and confidence in the activity are required. Periods of activity will be of longer duration.

Advanced: A high level of skill in the activity and confidence are required, with excellent mobility and stamina. Substantial physical exertion over prolonged periods of time will be involved.
