Best of the North West Break

People looking at flowersOur Best of the North West Break offers a packed programme of activities and excursions. Our accessible vehicles will transport you to some of the many tourist attractions within easy reach of Sandpipers.

The trips on offer each week vary, but always give you the chance to visit some of the many accessible attractions of the North West.

There's always plenty to do in Southport itself. The town is a classic seaside resort with parks, gardens and Britain’s second longest pier.

A little further away, some of our favourite destinations include Blackpool, Liverpool, with its fantastic shopping and museums and the National Wildflower Centre.

The stunning landscape of the Lake District is just a short drive away too.

Guest favourite: Lake Windermere, Lake District

Vitalise Sandpipers is within easy reach of the beautiful Lake District, England's largest national park. A firm guest favourite is Lake Windermere. At 10.5 miles long, one mile wide and 220 feet deep, it’s the largest natural lake in England.

The Lake District Visitor Centre overlooks Windermere, between Troutbeck Bridge and Ambleside. The centre has beautiful gardens to explore, plus exhibitions, a gift shop and a cafe. The centre is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilet facilities. Staff can provide a map showing accessible routes and facilities within the grounds.

If you fancy getting on to the lake itself, Windermere Lake Cruises operate some wheelchair accessible vessels, so you can enjoy spectacular views of mountain scenery, secluded bays and wooded islands.
