World Cup winner and former England Captain Jason Leonard OBE and Welsh wizard Phil Bennett OBE were the stars of Vitalise’s annual Legends of Sport Dinner at London’s glamorous Café Royal on 10 June.

Ex-England and British Lions star Jeff Probyn hosted the evening and among the other celebrity special guests were Roger Uttley OBE, Victor Ubogu and Matt Perry. Vitalise Vice President Esther Rantzen CBE also attended the gala evening.

Over 200 guests enjoyed a drinks reception, a sumptuous three-course meal, celebrity speeches and live jazz. In keeping with the rugby theme, there was also a live traditional Maori Haka.

Among the fabulous auction prizes to go under the hammer were items of sporting memorabilia including a 2008 Barbarians shirt signed by the entire team, but the most feverish bidding was for a round of golf with Jason Leonard, Victor Ubogu and Matt Perry!

Vitalise Events Manager Karolina Chmielewska commented:
“I’d like to say a special thank you to all our celebrity guests who helped make Legends of Sport 2008 such a resounding success. The money raised will enable us to help even more disabled people and carers who are in desperate need of a break.”

The Legends of Sport Dinner 2008 grossed the incredible sum of over £40,000 for Vitalise’s essential work, an increase of £5,000 on the previous year.
