Vitalise and Liberty Child offer free summer holiday to under 18s – Archive News
Tuesday 07 April 2009
For the second year in a row, Vitalise has partnered with Southampton-based charity Liberty Child. The two charities are offering under 18s with disabilities the opportunity to claim a free holiday this August.
Liberty Child was set up in 2001 to fundraise for holidays for children with physical and/or learning disabilities.
Following a successful partnership with Vitalise last year, which saw 20 children enjoy an all expenses paid break, the charity hopes to give at least 30 children a holiday in 2009.
The cost of each child's holiday will be paid for by Liberty Child through their local fundraising efforts, although any contribution from parents/carers or organisations is welcomed.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for a holiday the child must meet the following criteria:
- is aged 8 – 18 years old
- has physical and/or learning disabilities
The holidays

Two week-long holidays are available:
Vitalise Churchtown, Cornwall
1 – 8 August 2009
Dukes Barn, Derbyshire
15 – 22 August 2009
A range of activities will be available on each holiday, and may include sailing, canoeing, swimming, climbing and beach trips.
A Liberty Child holiday often gives children their first taste of independence and a chance to get together with others of the same age. Meanwhile parents and carers also get an important and much-needed break, confident that the children are well looked-after and enjoying a holiday in a safe environment.
Care and support on each holiday will be provided by fully trained Liberty Child volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer on these holidays please visit the Liberty Child website or see the information below.
